Yerevan State Medical University
The history of Yerevan State Medical University named after Mkhitar Heratsi begins in 1920, when the law on the establishment of a medical faculty at the university was adopted. In 1921, a school for the training of medical personnel was opened in Yerevan, and in 1922, a medical faculty was established on its basis as an integral part of Yerevan State University.
Later, the medical faculty was transformed into an independent medical institute, and then into a university. In 1989, the university was named after the prominent medieval Armenian physician Mkhitar Heratsi.
